Gratitude at The Senior Alliance: Honoring the People and Partnerships Who Support Michigan Caregivers

This month, we’re celebrating the caregivers, volunteers, partners, and supporters who make our mission possible. Every act of care, every hour of service, and every community partnership strengthens the network that helps older adults and family caregivers live with dignity and independence.

From the meaningful connection offered through ACCESS EXHALE, to the Baldwin Society‘s commitment to supporting underserved older adults, to the practical guidance in our Service Network Guide, this month’s blog highlights the people and programs that make real support possible in our region.

In this episode, Jason Maciejewski, CEO of The Senior Alliance, talks to Michigan State Representative Stephanie Young, who serves the 16th House District. They talk about the biggest challenges in the coming year for older adults, the impacts of the federal budget cuts, and how Michigan is trying to limit the impacts of those cuts. They also discuss the guardianship assistance bill that Representative Young recently introduced, housing affordability, transportation, aging veterans, and how older adults can help advocate and make their voices heard in Lansing. Great information!

December Star of the Month: Lori Uytterboeck

Lori is nominated by both teammates and leadership for her positivity, dependability, and willingness to go the extra mile. Here’s what they have to say:

“Lori is a crucial and intricate part of the Mi Choice Waiver Intake and Pre-Screen Team, and continues to go above and beyond in this role while also going above and beyond to assist her team members in CCD as well as the agency with her support, advocacy, and overall positivity. Lori finds opportunity to conduct outreach on the agency’s behalf, whether it is at a casino in Ohio for a weekend trip or heading the table at the Wayne County Senior Fun Fest. I am very proud of Lori and her continued growth, and am very proud to have her on my team!” – Sarah Driscoll, Manager

“Lori time and time again takes care of our staff introductions and welcomes new hires with such enthusiasm.  She serves on the FUN committee and shares unique fun ideas for us to try. Lori is always dependable whenever there is an event; I know I can count on her to assist with cleanup without hesitation. Thank you, Lori, for always going above and beyond.” – Lauren Wonsowski, HR Generalist

From all of us at The Senior Alliance, thank you, Lori, for your warmth, dedication, and commitment to making this a great place to work and serve.
