Michigan Long Term Care Ombudsman Program
Michigan Long Term Care Ombudsman Support
Through the Michigan Long Term Care Ombudsman Program (MLTCOP), local ombudsmen work with residents of long term care facilities to resolve problems and promote high-quality care. They provide a community presence by routinely visiting residents of nursing homes, homes for the aged, and adult foster care homes.
Local ombudsmen are practiced in:
- Explaining to residents all their rights
- Empowering residents to communicate concerns
- Assisting residents in resolving concerns
- Providing community education regarding long-term care issues
- Promoting the use of best practices throughout the long-term care system
Additionally, MLTCOP aims to improve the long-term care system by advocating for laws, regulations, and policies benefiting residents.
MLTCOP is funded by the federal and state governments, at no cost to residents or their families.
Ombudsman services are confidential and we only take action with consent of and at the direction of the resident.
