As you gather with family this holiday season, take a moment to truly observe and connect with your aging loved ones. Beyond the warm hugs and shared meals, you may want to pay attention to subtle cues that might indicate a need for support or assistance.

November marks National Family Caregivers Month, a time to honor the dedication and resilience of caregivers across the nation. This month is dedicated to raising awareness about the incredible contributions of caregivers, recognizing the challenges they face, and celebrating the invaluable support they provide. 

In the United States, nearly 53 million adults are family or informal caregivers, according to the latest data from AARP. This October, during Long-Term Care Planning Month, we encourage caregivers to consider the long-term care needs of those they are caring for and how they can plan for the future.

Alzheimer’s disease takes a toll on both people with dementia and caregivers. Caregivers often experience high rates of stress and depression, feelings of burnout, or neglect their own health and well-being.
