It’s a Good Day at TSA: April

Hands holding up blocks that spell volunteer

As April is National Volunteer Month, we recognize and appreciate the backbone of The Senior Alliance— our volunteers. Their commitment and dedication are the driving force behind our mission to support older adults in our community.

Our volunteers are the real heroes, offering their time and skills to make a tangible difference in the lives of older adults. Whether it’s helping someone navigate the ins and outs of Medicare, driving for Meals on Wheels in Wayne County, or advocating for the needs of aging adults and adults with disabilities, their contributions are invaluable.

What drives you (to volunteer)?

Our nation’s aging population is growing rapidly, with more and more people living longer lives with less money available to them. And today, with our nation experiencing the highest inflation rate in 40 years, the aging population is especially vulnerable.

Many count on Meals on Wheels to provide for their most basic needs.

Meals on Wheels volunteers are essential to caring for our community’s most vulnerable. Sign up now and help us make a difference in Wayne County.

We love hearing the stories of how The Senior Alliance has made a difference in the lives of our community members. When we get to share them with you, it’s A Good Day at TSA!

Here’s a story from one of our Information & Assistance Specialists:

“An individual has called us many times, as well as has reached out to the Senator’s office. He was angry and bitter, thinking no one cared about his well-being. After many lengthy calls, this individual was able to connect to Michigan Veterans Senior Services, receive Meals on Wheels, and get referred to a specialized doctor.”

As always, we thank our dedicated staff for their hard work!
