Medicare Counseling
Navigating Medicare can be confusing, but you don’t have to figure it out alone. Through Michigan’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP), trained counselors provide free, unbiased support to help you understand your benefits, compare plans, review prescription drug coverage, and find cost-saving opportunities. They can also help you avoid scams, resolve billing issues, and make sense of both Medicare and Medicaid coverage.
Person-Centered Options Counseling
When you’re exploring long-term care or community support options, person-centered counseling helps you understand what’s available and what best fits your needs. A trained counselor will walk you through services like in-home care, transportation, housing, caregiver respite, and other supports. Together, you’ll build a plan that reflects your goals, values, and preferences, so you or your loved one can remain independent and supported in the community.
The SHIP program is supported by the Administration for Community Living (ACL), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of a financial assistance award totaling $79,224 with 100 percent funding by ACL/HHS through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. The contents are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily represent the official views of, nor an endorsement, by ACL/HHS or the U.S. Government.
The PCOC project has been made possible through a grant awarded to The Senior Alliance by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
