The EXHALE Program

Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS), a wonderful partner to The Senior Alliance, has developed a program to support caregivers called Exhale.

The mission of this program is to empower those in the role of family caregiving who provide daily support to their elderly loved ones. Key benefits of this program include:

  • Bi-monthly gatherings that include lunch, refreshments, and meaningful conversations with others who are on the caregiving journey.
  • Expert guidance from experienced professionals in mental health, health, and social services, including Alzheimer’s training.
  • A wealth of caregiving resources tailored to help you navigate your caregiving journey.
  • Scheduled respite care from nursing/volunteer students, giving you time to recharge while your loved one remains in compassionate care.
  • An annual stipend and invitations to two recreational outings each year for relaxation and enjoyment.

Through the support of ACCESS and in partnership with The Senior Alliance, Exhaleis is committed to increasing awareness and providing resources to diverse caregiving communities. Together with a network of partners, including healthcare providers, behavioral health organizations, nursing associations, and senior programs, we’re enhancing caregiver support services to meet the diverse needs of our community.

Manager of the Quarter: Courtney Walsh

Manager of the quarter graphic

We are thrilled to honor Courtney Walsh as our Manager of the Quarter!

Here’s what one of her caseworkers had to say about her:

“Courtney embodies all the best traits of an effective manager. She communicates openly, honestly, and respectfully, motivates, and inspires where she leads by example, is an active listener who values input and ideas, and supports and encourages collaboration within our program and across other departments.

She is a creative problem-solver who takes immediate action to resolve issues, however great or small, to make our program run smoothly. As the Hearken Program manager, she helps each participant by being empathetic, kind, and compassionate and with impeccable follow-through, making sure they get the resources they need. It’s not rare for a participant to say, ‘I love Courtney!’

She is the Batman to my Robin, that person who I can trust to listen to me, to guide me, to teach me, and to help me, especially on those tough days. Because Courtney cares so much and works so hard for the older adults in the Hearken Program, she inspires me every day to do my best. Courtney is generous in her praise for others, both public and private. Now is the time to let the light shine on her for a change!”

From all of us at The Senior Alliance, thank you, Courtney, for all you do to make a difference at work and in our community!
