It’s a Good Day at TSA: July

Website new look

The Senior Alliance has a new look online! We are excited to share the new look and feel of thesenioralliance.org.

We’ve added new content to our pages, improved the navigation to make finding our services and resources easier, and freshened our look.

We are especially excited to highlight the new online Caregiving Haven, a one-stop source for guidance, tools, resources, and connections to empower caregivers and their loved ones to enjoy life together. Find it at caregivinghaven.org.

We hope that you’ll spend some time on the new site, and reach out to us if you have any questions.

Star Performer of the Month, Michelle Danou

Star of the month Michelle Danou

We are thrilled to honor Michelle Danou as our Star of the Month! ????

Here’s what her manager has to say about her:

“Michelle’s dedication to the Long Term Care Ombudsman program is amazing. TSA’s service area has over 9,000 beds for nursing facility and assisted living residents and the program is available to all of them. When the public health emergency ended, Medicaid eligibility determinations started back up and some facilities didn’t understand the rules which meant that facilities were trying to discharge people who should have been allowed to stay. Michelle worked with the residents and facilities to resolve those issues and continues to advocate for residents who are being involuntarily discharged. She helps them with the appeals process and helps connect them with programs to transition them to the community if that’s what they want.

Michelle recently conducted a Resident Rights training at Maple Manor of Wayne during an evening staff meeting. These trainings help facility staff understand and provide care that aligns with resident rights. She also assisted in creating a video that was shown at a state training, ‘What Matters Most to Me.’ The video features a panel of residents talking about their experiences in nursing facilities and gave residents a way to provide input about their experiences.

Michelle’s passion and commitment make a huge difference in the lives of residents.”

Thank you, Michelle, for all you to do make a difference at The Senior Alliance and in our community!

Manager of the Quarter: Melissa Gaynier

Manager of the Quarter Melissa Gaynier

Congratulations to Melissa Gaynier, our Manager of the Quarter! ????

She was nominated by a member of her staff, who had only the kindest things to say:

“I would like to nominate Melissa for manager of the quarter. Melissa has a cheerful attitude, a calm presence, and a can-do attitude. There is no normal day in CCS, and her job entails supporting and leading the CCS team. Melissa understands how to navigate sensitive situations and show her support is meaningful. She recognizes that a simple thank you, a shared laugh or a shared personal story can make a person’s day or be more than helpful navigating sensitive and/or complex situations.

Demonstrating commitment to work life balance by setting boundaries, prioritizing self-care, and encouraging her team to do the same, Melissa is dedicated to making the lives of those she works with easier while maintaining a balance. She is creative and is always looking for ways for the team to improve its effectiveness and efficiency. We often spend more time with work than our own families some days. Whether working in office or remotely, we tend to take our colleagues for granted. Everyone has a story, everyone has their personal life and commitments to prioritize.

For these reasons, I would like to take this time to nominate Melissa for all she has done for myself and our team, I could not be happier being a part of the CCS team.”

Thank you, Melissa, for leading your team so well and for making our work at The Senior Alliance a joy.
