Every day, caregivers provide vital support to aging adults and adults living with disabilities. Whether they are family members, friends, or professionals, caregivers offer physical, emotional, and practical help that allows loved ones to live with dignity and independence.
But who listens to the caregivers?
The Senior Alliance believes your voice matters. That’s why we invite caregivers to help shape the future of local aging services through the Annual Implementation Plan (AIP).
What Is the Annual Implementation Plan (AIP)?
The AIP is an annual roadmap created by The Senior Alliance, the Area Agency on Aging for southern and western Wayne County. It outlines funding priorities, goals, and service improvements for programs that support older adults and caregivers.
The AIP helps determine how resources are allocated to services like:
- Respite care
- Caregiver training
- Senior nutrition programs
- Transportation assistance
And your feedback ensures these programs meet real-world needs.
Why Your Input Matters
Caregivers have firsthand knowledge of what aging adults truly need. Your insights help us understand the gaps, successes, and opportunities in caregiving services. By sharing your perspective, you directly influence programs that:
- Provide relief and rest for caregivers
- Educate and empower those providing care
- Ensure access to nutritious meals for older adults
- Promote independence through community-based services
When caregivers speak, communities grow stronger.
How to Get Involved
We invite all caregivers to participate in our upcoming AIP public hearings:
- May 1 at 9:00 A.M. (Virtual via Zoom)
- May 12 at 9:30 A.M. (In person at The Senior Alliance office)
To view the draft AIP and join the Zoom meeting, visit www.thesenioralliance.org.
