More Than Just Savings with MMAP

Months ago, Ms. K received a phone call from an insurance company, and she was signed up for a Part D program. This new plan had a monthly premium that she was not aware of and did not pay. She lost her Part D plan in March. It wasn’t until the next month when she went into the hospital that her family realized what had happened. Her son, who lives out of state, tried to fix the issue by calling Medicare, but they told him that Ms. K would have to wait for open enrollment in the Fall to select a replacement plan that would begin coverage on January 1 of the following year. Ms. K’s family in Michigan set up a meeting with a MMAP counselor at Ms. K’s house so they could assist with document review and answer questions. The MMAP Counselor researched her situation and informed them all that if there was a 5-star plan available in her area, she could sign up today for coverage the following month. Her family was “so happy and thankful” for the MMAP representatives.

The estimated savings for this family is $70,000.
