Holiday Meals – Due to the COVID pandemic, our regular warm holiday meal will be substituted by a holiday themed meal that will be delivered with the Wayne County Meals Program and paid for by The Senior Alliance.
The Holiday Meals program serves over 3,000 meals annually to home-bound senior clients on three holidays: Easter Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
These three holiday deliveries are separately planned, funded, and executed by a separate pool of volunteers. It is not affiliated with the full-time Meals on Wheels program delivered by Wayne County Meals on Wheels and funded by the Older Americans Act. The Senior Alliance is seeking private donations for the Holiday Meals Program to ensure that vulnerable and isolated seniors receive a nutritious meal on the holidays. The Holiday Meals Program Committee at The Senior Alliance is passionate about the continuation of this program because we believe that a hot meal and a friendly smile on a day most people spend with family makes a difference in the lives of vulnerable and isolated seniors.
The Holiday Meals program serves home-bound seniors age 60+ that are currently served by the Home Delivered Meals program or are homebound and receiving congregate meals. If you are interested in learning more about the program, please contact our Holiday Meals line at: 734-736-6065.
