It’s a Good Day at TSA: August

Being a caregiver is a powerful responsibility and a great undertaking. Today, one in every five adults are caregivers, and most caregivers have another job on top of the work they do for their loved ones.

Caregivers help with a plethora of tasks ranging from housework to medical care to transportation. It’s important that those who are caring for a loved one receive the help they need as well.

By caring for our caregivers, we can partner with families to create a more effective system of support. Learn more about how to best support the caregivers in your life, as well as the resources available through The Senior Alliance.

Manager of the Quarter

Congratulations to our Manager of the Quarter, Susan Ross! Susan is a key member of our Fiscal Department.

She was nominated by staff members who report to her. Here’s what they had to say:

“Susan is one of the most compassionate, empathetic, caring, and kind souls I have ever met. We’ve always worked remotely with Susan, but she maintains contact with us like we were in the building every day. She cares about the work of TSA, but she cares so much about us employees too. Her approach to work and home life balance is very comforting when there are times I am needed at home. She sent a beautiful picture frame to my husband and me when our girl, Doxie Mia, passed away last year, and she embraces my obsession with Sasquatch. For Christmas, she got me a Sasquatch tumbler that I use 24/7. I am so happy and honored to get to work with such a wonderful person.” – Katie Teachout

“Susan has been a wonderful addition to the Fiscal Department since the day she joined our team and TSA. She is always willing to help resolve any issues the staff may have, not only in Fiscal but also in other departments at TSA, in a timely manner and professional way. She is always willing to volunteer for extra projects and events. She delivers meals, helps with the fun committee activities, and always has a cheerful, professional attitude no matter what situations arise. No matter how busy she is, she always takes time to listen and be there for everyone and values our opinions and feedback. I enjoy working with Susan and feel she is a true asset and valued member of The Senior Alliance management team.” – Sue Colson

Star Performer

Congratulations to our Star Performer of the Month, Maiya Clay!

Congratulations to our Star Performer of the Month, Maiya Clay! She is one of our beloved Supports Coordinators for the MI Choice Waiver Program.

Here’s what her manager, Gail, had to say about her:

“Whenever I interact with any of her participants, they just cannot help but GUSH about her. The overwhelming consensus I get from participants is that Maiya is cool, calm, collected, trustworthy, and knowledgeable.

Her colleagues also share the same feedback. Maiya is 1 of 2 peer mentors in the Waiver Program. She identified that our hybrid training plan didn’t have a good rhythm, so she made a goal for this fiscal year to work with the other peer mentors and Quality/Training Managers to develop a more streamlined approach to hybrid training. I am so proud to report that Maiya (and the other peer mentors) have met this goal and have implemented this new approach! So far, the feedback from new staff is very positive! Maiya also makes herself available to newer staff, even after they complete orientation and training, to offer support and guidance.

Maiya is the Waiver Team’s favorite ‘go-to’ person when they need to decompress and have a laugh. She always makes herself available to lend a helping hand to her colleagues. She also volunteers for other TSA-related events and keeps all the licensed professionals abreast with upcoming Continuing Education opportunities.

I know Maiya does not think she deserves recognition, but she really is an incredible asset to TSA, and we are all so thankful for everything that she juggles while maintaining her effortless charm!”

We’re so proud of our team! Thank you!
